At Covenant we love and affirm one another, celebrating our differences created by God, the source of our unity. As God loves us, we seek to love the world, working to heal its wounds as we anticipate the Kingdom of God.

We are members of the Presbyterian Church (USA) governed by the Book of Order and the Book of Confessions. Our elected Session guides our congregation. We believe that “the church is reformed and always being reformed.”

Affirming
We are a More Light Congregation, working for the full inclusion of LBGTQ+ people in all aspects of church and society. We worship a God of abundance, whose gifts are given to all.

Advocates
We are a certified Earth Care Congregation. We advocate for the preservation of our Planet, strive to practice sustainability in our congregational life, work for eco-justice, and pray for the Earth in our worship.

Exploring
We take Scripture seriously, not literally. We are open to the gifts of other traditions and to the insights of science and modern Scripture scholarship. We celebrate one another, respecting and affirming one another’s faith journeys and experiences without fear or judgment. We seek guidance through Scripture study, spiritual practices, and prayer for our own lives and for our work in the world.
Covenant People
Covenant people are pilgrim people. God's call to a covenant people always has been a call to live in the journey of faith recognizing and accepting the precariousness of living in the world, knowing that issues of life and faith are never finally settled.

We believe that the living God is encountered on the journey of faith as the Creator who has formed all that is, as the Christ who goes before us into the world, as the Spirit who opens our eyes and surprises us.

Covenant is a congregation whose journey in faith means to live on the boundary where God's sure care in our church family is tested by differing opinions about God's activity in the world, where tolerance and acceptance of one another's faith journeys venture fellowship with those different than we, where the value of face-to-face relationships limits resources for expanding ministry, where being on the cutting edge as Christians threatens disruption of the familiar and comfortable, where our Reformed heritage is challenged by God's call in a new age.
STATEMENT ON -
Racial Justice
Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness. Genesis 1:26
God has created the people of the earth to be one universal family. In God’s reconciling love, God overcomes the barriers between people and breaks down every form of discrimination based on racial or ethnic difference, real or imaginary. ….Congregations, individuals, or groups of Christians who exclude, dominate, or patronize others, however subtly, resist the Spirit of God and bring contempt on the faith which they profess. We believe…..that the church must therefore stand by people in any form of suffering and need, which implies, among other things, that the church must witness against and strive against any form of injustice, so that justice may roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. As disciples of Jesus, formed by Scripture and by the historic confessions of our Reformed tradition, Covenant people affirm the dignity and worth of every beloved child of God. We commit ourselves to becoming an ever more inclusive community, welcoming all into the life, fellowship, and governance of our congregation. At this time of heightened awareness of the injustice of systemic racism, we commit to educating ourselves and joining with our fellow Christians to work for justice, healing, and reconciliation in our church, community, and nation.
